This is the first in a new series, Calendar, inspired by how the pandemic shifted our sense of time. We measure time by events shared with people, Nature’s seasons or life’s milestones. The pandemic took away many of the markers of time. A botanical illustrated calendar was a trigger for this new series; I looked at it daily in my work space. Painting in the studio was a relief and refuge during pandemic isolation. I painted the lyrical garden while identifying a focal point. My work concentrates on botanical forms and topology; making a physical impression. Color and mark-making convey energy from nature.
